One of my favorite holiday activities is making keepsakes to look back on. Last year I made salt dough ornaments with my son’s handprint on them for our family. It’s simple to do and great keepsake!

Mix together 1 cup of salt, 1 cup of flour and 1/2 cup of water (optional: food coloring). Depending on your child’s age they can help measure ingredients, pour or mix. I used a circle cookie cutter to make circles, used a straw to put a hole for ribbons, and then my son’s hand print. After you shape the ornaments however you like put them on a baking sheet and bake for about 2-3 hours at 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Once they’re dry and hard they are ready to decorate with paint or glitter. I used glue and glitter to fill in my son’s handprint. To finish it off I included a picture of my son with a little poem.
