Happy-ish Campers

So you think you are ready to go camping with young children? You’re ready to make wonderful memories around the campfire and go on adventures in the great outdoors. We thought so too, but boy were we wrong! Camping with little ones is tough. It takes quite a bit of preparation and as soon as you think things are going smoothly...something will happen. We bought our first little camper when our youngest wasn’t even a year old. He’s now three and I feel like we have definitely learned a lifetime of lessons about camping with children already. Here are a few things we have learned...

  1. As soon as you get past all civilization and there is no where to stop...someone will need to use the bathroom of begin getting car sick.

  2. You will never have enough snacks packed in the car for the drive.

  3. No one ever makes it an entire night in their designated sleeping spot...which means you usually end up giving your sleeping spot for a less than idea one.

We’ve learned a lot camping with two little boys. Some bad, some really bad, but also some good! Some of our best camping lessons include...

  1. The excitement and joy your kids show when they find out their going camping never gets old.

  2. Things might not go as planned, but sometimes it’s the unplanned moments that make the best memories.

  3. No matter how much work it is taking two little ones camping and the little sleep we get when we’re camping, we will keep camping because adventures are always worth the work when you’re with the people you love.

We may not always be “happy campers” when we are camping, but the memories are always priceless. Wishing you all many family camping memories!
