Life can be...poopy!

Last night I was home alone with our toddler. He was playing nicely in his room and I needed to go to the bathroom. I left him playing and went the two feet down the hall to the bathroom. I can hear him playing the entire time....he was playing alright. He scoots himself into the bathroom to find me and I see that he has chocolate or something all over him. I’m not sure why chocolate was my first thought? I mean I KNOW we don’t have chocolate in the house because if we did I would be devouring that stuff myself! My mom brain finally kicks in...POOP! I start getting his arms and legs cleaned up then go to his room (where he was playing) to get pajamas and a new diaper to put on him after a bath. That’s when I find the real mess. The poop all over my son was nothing, his room was completely smeared with poop...everywhere! He had scooted around in it and I could see a path going in circles around his room. He had painted it on his toys, on his bed, on the wall. All in less than five minutes! This is the same boy that takes 10 minutes to convince him to put shoes on...but he can completely go Picasso with his poop in just a couple unoccupied minutes.

So I call my mom (the husband was conveniently called into work right before this all happens) as I get the boy into the tub because I’m one week away from having our second baby and I have to find a way to clean all this up, occupy him and not go into labor all within the couple hours before bedtime. With the extra help we get it all taken care of.
The moral of this poopy story is that parenting is messy! I’m the type of person who thinks they can handle everything on their own. I don’t like asking for help because for some reason I think it makes me look weak. My husband and I made the decision to have kids so we should be the ones taking care of everything right? Yes we are the ones who are mostly responsible for our children but it’s important to know that it’s okay to ask for help, to lean on someone else when things get poopy, and to realize that we won’t always be the perfect parents we strive to be. I’m thankful for the support system we have to help us through the poopy times and I know this won’t be the last time I, a grown woman and soon to be mom of two boys, has to call for her mommy to come to the rescue. Keep up the good work moms and dads! You are amazing for the things you do each day. You are literally growing a little human and raising them to one day be successful adults, so ask for help when you need it and appreciate those people around you that offer support and encouragement!
Shoutout to my husband for coming home with real chocolates and an icee for me!
