"Checking In" to Your Staycation

ree

This year with two little ones (2 year old and a 9 month old) we decided a vacation away probably wasn't the best use of our time and money. However, my husband wanted to take some time off work and we definitely wanted to have some family fun together! We decided to stay home and enjoy a relaxing and calm vacation. Staycation it is! We were counting down the days until we could sleep in (haha...yeah right), but we were very excited to have dad home with us for a whole week!

The day before my husband's time off I made a plan to transform our house so that it felt more like a little bed & breakfast and more relaxing. Here are some things we did to get the house staycation ready:

-fresh flowers on the table

-snack basket on the bar full of goodies

-tropical scented candles

-a package of Andes mints so that we can put them on the pillows each morning when the bed is made

-and took care of chores so that we didn't have to worry about it during the staycation (laundry, cleaning, declutter).

We had some ideas of things we wanted to do while dad was off like go eat our favorite pizza, go swimming, spend time with family, and play outside lots! We were flexible each day and had so much fun just taking our time enjoying the boys and each other's company. Mom and dad even got a date night thanks to grandma and grandpa! Needless to say, we can't wait for the next staycation..whenever that may be.
