Be A Light

If you haven't heard Thomas Rhett's song "Be A Light" you should go check it out...immediately. This song really nudged my heart, especially in this crazy time we are currently living in. The song talks about how life isn't a race that we can win. It's a journey and it's rough sometimes. So instead of spending the time we have spreading hate, hurt, and fear we need to spread kindness, hope, and love.

I'll be honest, this stuff we are living through is scary. It's hard to escape all the hate and fear happening in the world. Some days I try to ignore it all. I stay in my safe little bubble with my boys at home and pretend everything is fine. These days make me feel like everything is perfectly fine. Most days my heart aches thinking about all the horrible and hateful things happening. These days I worry about sending my boys out into the world as they grow. Some days I try to step back and think of ways to show my boys the goodness in the world and the kindness we can create when we think of others. These days make me feel hopeful for the future.

I don't have the answers on how to escape the fear or the heart aches. I don't know of any place on this Earth that we can live without pain and fear. I don't know how I will every be able to let my boys go out into such a scary world. However, I do know that every little flicker of light helps. Every day that we choose to be kind, to take time to listen, and to take care of one another, we spread hope. Hope that there is good in the world. Hope that things won't always be so scary. Hope that one day we will have the chance to escape this Earth and live for eternity in Heaven where there is no pain, no fear, and no hate.

My prayer is that no matter what is happening in the world, in our neighborhood, in our home, that we can always find the little flickers of light that bring peace. When things are so dark that the flickers are impossible to find, I pray that we can step up and be the light for our families and for others. My prayer is that through trusting the Lord, we can release the fears, pain, and doubt, and that we can make a difference spreading love, kindness, and hope.

Romans 15:13

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
