It's summertime and it is hot! The boys and I have gotten creative this summer with ways to stay cool playing in the water. If you don't have a kiddie pool or water table, don't worry. You can fill up storage containers or buckets for hours of water fun! Here is a list of different water activities we enjoy.
Explore water using various tools (check out your local dollar store to find a surplus of water toys): funnels, cups, pitchers, tubes, plastic animals, sponges, etc.
Use food coloring, water, and clear plastic cups to experiment with color mixing.
Bathe plastic toy cars, animals, or baby dolls after they've gotten "dirty". Use sponges, wash cloths, soap and water.
Soak sidewalk chalk in water or wet the sidewalk before drawing with chalk. It makes for a different texture to draw with and makes the colors more vibrant!

Make boats out of household materials to see what floats and sinks. Try adding weight to the homemade boats to see how much they can hold.
Practice pouring from pitchers or plastic measuring cups into drinking cups (great life skill to learn while you play and stay cool).
Use a paintbrush and "paint" with water on the sidewalk or fence.
Good old fashion splashing and swimming is always fun too!
